I have made this recipe so many times that I pretty much know it by heart and just whip it up. I will do my best to tell you roughly how much of everything I use. It always turns out great! For the record, it serves our family of 5 (basically 4, James really doesn't count as a serving yet.) perfectly! My favorite part? The ingredients list is short which means fast and easy! Mom/Wife Win! Let's get to it then shall we?
INGREDIENTS
1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean works best I have found)
3 garlic cloves, minced
¼ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (skip these if your kids notice the spice easily like mine, but once in a while I will add them anyway and convince them that there is only pepper in here.)
¼ teaspoon pepper
2 cups (either pre-cooked or just cooked) white or brown rice
sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish!!
INSTRUCTIONS
In a large skillet cook the ground beef and garlic, breaking it into crumbles over medium heat until it is no longer pink. Meanwhile, in a small bowl you can whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, and pepper. Pour over the ground beef and let it simmer for another minute or two. Serve over hot rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds!
That's It! That's all there is to this recipe and you will be pleasantly surprised by how something so simple can taste so good! Trust me friends! If you have no idea what you are making for dinner tonight, this is the one! I promise! If you love it or hate it, come back and let me know! I would love to know how this dish worked out for you! Enjoy! Let's chat soon!
XOXO,
